The video games are coming!

The Video games are coming! Run!!

The amount of must-have video game releases this year is terrifying. Really terrifying. I’m poor as it is without having to buy five or more expensive games every month! First there was Bayonetta and Mass Effect 2 in January; then we have Bioshock 2, Dante’s Inferno, Heavy Rain, and White Knight Chronicles. And that’s not all, just the ones I’m interested in! I only hope I will get a few million dollars for my birthday on March 5, because immediately after Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Final Fantasy III, God of War III, Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver, Red Steel 2, Yakuza 3, and the expansion Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening. Wow, that’s a lot… and I can’t spare buying even one of those games (possibly God of War III since I haven’t played the earlier games; and I really only need one of the Pokémon games)!

I’m sure that was a tiring read, so let me make you a little chart of 2010 video game releases instead of just listing every title like above.

  • Medal of Honor
  • Assassin’s Creed Episodes
  • (Assassin’s Creed III)
  • World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
  • The Legend of Zelda

Microsoft’s Project Natal and Sony’s Motion Controller will also be released during the fall period. I don’t know what will happen in December. (Above list courtesy of Kotaku.)

Assuming you’re even the slightest interested, I have marked must-have games (for me) green; games I will get if the economy will let me blue; and games I am going to look more into because the title intrigues me purple. If you wonder why I do this, it is mostly for future reference so I can remember what games will be release 2010 and which I am going to get. I’ve got to at least try to organize my money spending. Or wasting. Whatever.

I'm fangirling over MAG, Heavy Rain, FFXIII for the PS3. I'm planning to pick up MAG in a couple of days though. I played the public beta and immediately fell in love with it.

Heavy Rain: I'll have to pick up in a couple of weeks. I played the demo and I could have sworn the creator of Shenmue had something to do with this! XD

There are demos? I have been watching too much anime and playing too little (not counting classic non-live titles like Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X) I just don't know what's going on (except all releases listed above… obviously). Definitely gonna check out those demos since I'm still somewhat unsure about Heavy Rain (I don't know anything about it! >_<). Although, if I become interested in MAG as well I'm going to sue you for giving me yet another expense! XD

Personally I'm fangirling more over–did I just say fanGIRLing!? I meant fanboying… maybe… Anyway, I'm more HYPED (nyah, no comments allowed) about Fable III – which is obvious since it's the one I have to wait the longest for. @_@

    Haha, the “fangirling” part was a my personal expense since I'm a girl. ^^;

But I forgot to mention that the Heavy Rain demo is on the NA PSN store right now. There is no demo for MAG… yet, and the public beta lasted only a week (I missed out on the closed beta since I didn't get selected). But it was ever so fun! Guess I'll have to sell my games now… XD

Closed beta for a console game? That's new. Also does that mean the demo is not available on the EU PSN? D:

Yes, it should be on the EU store as well.

Great! I'll get it right now so I don't forget. :3

I know exactly how you feel with all the great games lined up to come out this year. Unfortunately, I need to cut back on game spending at the moment, so I really need to pick and choose which games to get.

I recently got Bayonetta and Woah, what an awesome game. Definitely check it out when the price is right for you. My next purchase probably won't come till May with the release of Super Street Fighter IV.

Is Bayonetta really that awesome? I tried the demo on PS3 a while back and it didn't seem that very great – of course, just playing a demo version can make pretty much any game feel like crap. No one likes restrictions, and when you know they're coming any minute, it kind of takes the fun out of playing or whatever you're doing (this does not only apply to playing video games).

I had way more fun than I expected. Yes, it's way over the top, but really, that is why I like it so much. It has a ton of funny little subtleties that make the game very unique and unlike anything I've ever played before. I might be making this game stand out more than it deserves, but eh, I thought it was awesome.

Great. Oh, and I will remember your words when I write a review (assuming I do) for it further into the future. ^^
